The Lost Sea

Posted in Local People & Places tagged , , , , , at 11:35 am by tntwmom

Sweetwater’s Lost Sea is “America’s Largest Underground Lake” is located on Highway 68 going towards Madisonville, TN.

Personally, I’ve never been there even though it would take me five minutes to get there from my house. It is somewhere I would like to take the kids, one day when finances permit.

It is one of Sweetwater’s attractions so be sure to stop by if you come to town!

Cheapest weekly stay in Sweetwater

Posted in Local People & Places tagged , , , , , , , at 9:15 am by tntwmom

Since my dad is coming to visit for a week, I’ve called all the hotels/motels in Sweetwater. The cheapest weekly rate I found was the Economy Inn in Sweetwater.

The guy who has answered the phone all three times I’ve called has always been very polite & friendly. He answered all my questions promptly.

The weekly rate he quoted me was $185, including tax. This is not a five star hotel, but from what I’ve seen in driving by and the pictures on their web site, the Economy Inn is a decent, affordable place to stay if you’re coming to town. Other hotels in town are upwards and over $300 a week, if they offer a weekly rate (not all rent by the week).

They offer smoking & non-smoking rooms, and they are located very close to Burger King, McDonald’s & American House of Pancakes right off I-75 exit 60 in Sweetwater, TN.

You can visit the Economy Inn’s web site ~~>HERE<~~

New Category!

Posted in Local People & Places tagged , , , , , , , , at 9:02 am by tntwmom

I decided I would make a “Local People & Places” category. I will post anything I feel would be good information for anyone new to our area or visiting town. I will also post random interesting facts or web site links that I feel make the cut.

I will post things in and around Sweetwater, TN and our surrounding counties including Knoxville, TN.

I already have a few ideas of things to post, but will also be scouring the net for other interesting places!

Searching for my real dad

Posted in A day in the life of me tagged , , , , , at 11:32 pm by tntwmom

I haven’t seen my real dad since I was two years old. I don’t remember him at all.

When I was oh, I don’t know, 12 or 13, he contacted my granny and wanted to contact me. My step dad said no. I’ve never heard anything about him since. I guess since he was told no and my granny isn’t alive now, he had to way to find me.

I once talked to a person who claimed to be a private investigator about finding my dad. She claimed to have found him, but wanted $150 for the information. I didn’t have the money to pay her even if she was legit.

I’ve googled his name, done people searches, joined reunion.com among other things trying to find him. No luck.

At one time I had several phone numbers that I found online that could possibly be him. I called them all… in states across America. They weren’t him, or no one ever answered the phone.

I made a wish on Wish Upon A Hero saying I would like to find my dad after all these years. I would love for my kids to have a grandfather. Robert’s dad passed away before he had kids. My step dad wasn’t around when I had kids, so they’ve never had a grandfather.

I missed out on having a dad. My step dad and I didn’t get along so well. He was a jerk to me most of the time.

I would more than anything like to find my real dad.

I had a lady contact me through Wish Upon A Hero telling me she found her dad and would like to help me find mine too.

I gave her what little info I have about him, which was his name and that he was 2 to 3 years older than my mom, where they met, what he did for a living back then, his eye and hair color and that was about it.

This lady emailed me earlier telling me she found a match on his name and age. She gave me this man’s name, date of birth, both parent’s names and ages, some recent/previous addresses and two phone numbers.

I was so excited, nervous, scared, anxious… omg I was crying… or trying not to actually.

I came into the bedroom where Robert was watching TV and begged him to call these phone numbers. It was 10 pm and he didn’t want to call that late.

I couldn’t call, hell I couldn’t even talk. My voice was trembling just telling Robert about it.

Since he wouldn’t call, I called my best friend and asked her to. She did. The first phone number- no one answered, a machine picked up. The second number had been disconnected.

IF this man is my dad, he lives about 3 hours from me in or around Lawrenceville Georgia. 3 hours and 9 minutes to be exact, according to MapQuest.

Well anyway, I’ll call the number tomorrow. If I get no answer, I will call back again and again. I may leave a message or two… who knows. I just HAVE to know if this man is my dad.
